Kamakura Shogunate (1192- AD)

In 1192, a new leader called Yorimoto took control of Japan. He was given the title of “Shogun,” which was a title that gave him the power of a military dictator. Shoguns ruled through emperors until 1868. The Japanese victory over the Mongols damaged the treasury and Samurai were upset over not being paid by the government and revolted.
